Merredin Energy is the owner of an 82MW liquid fired peaking plant that participates in the Wholesale Electricity Market in Western Australia which is both an energy and capacity market. The site is strategically located within the network and within a region that has a high-quality renewable resource. The site abuts the 100MW Merredin Solar Farm and is 20km the from the 222MW Collgar Wind Farm. The plant serves primarily as back-up capacity for the system and has historically run for around 20 hours per annum.
